Mussels in Brussels
The Belgians say that if a mussel is to command respect it must be plump and oily, and beige to almost carrot-colored when cooked. And the proper way to eat them is to use a fork to remove the first mussel from its shell, then use that shell as a sort of pincers to remove succeeding mussels from their shells

Brussels “Plaisir d’été” (Summer Pleasure) is starting,
it’s time to get an update on what Brussels is offering this summer.
- The ‘Summer in Brussels’ action offers hotel rooms in Brussels at unique prices during the summer of 2010.
The action of the hotels in Brussels is valid from 1 July 2010 to 31 August 2010. Crowne Plaza Le Palace plays a part in this action.
Double rooms, breakfast included: 105€; the second room at half price.
- Brussels Beach opens its urban beach at the Canal of Brussels from Friday 2 July to 22 August 2010. The 8th edition opens 2 weeks earlier in order to welcome the Tour de France, which arrives in Brussels on 4 July.
500 artists will sing, dance, swing,… at Brussels Beach 2010. The visitors can discover all sorts of music.
- From 8 July till 24 August, there will be cruises on the Canal of Brussels. The cruises take place 4 times a day, except on Monday, from 2 pm till 5 pm.
- Belgium National Day 21 July
- The Flower Carpet will be on the Grand-Place from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 August 2010.
